Check Yourself: Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

 

 

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! 

 

This year, we’d like to remind all of our clients, candidates and employees that breast cancer doesn’t just affect women; approximately 390 men per year are diagnosed with the disease. There are many causes of breast cancer in men, including obesity, liver conditions, genetics and even exposure to radiation. Men are often diagnosed later in life than women.

So what can we do? Well, we’d like to use this opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of self-checking!

To check for signs of breast cancer, you (or your partner!) should perform a monthly test during which you feel each breast for lumps or dimpling of the skin. It is also recommended that you perform a visual check to identify any changes in size or shape of the nipple.
