National Stress Awareness Day

The first Wednesday of November is National Stress Awareness day.

Today, we’d like to remind all of our clients, candidates and employees the importance of recognising workplace stress.

Stress can actually be useful; it can motivate us and help us to achieve our goals under pressure. However, when you experience stress too often it can have a damaging effect on not only your mental health, but your physical health too.

If you are overly stressed, you may:

– Feel overwhelmed

– Have difficulty concentrating

– Feel constantly worried, anxious or scared

– Have a lack of self-confidence

– Have trouble sleeping or feel tired all the time

– Avoid situations or people you are having problems with

– Be eating more or less than usual

– Drink or smoke more than usual

Dedicating time to self-care can help to reduce stress and help improve your health. The NHS’s One You service can help you to identify if you’re suffering with stress, and suggests helpful tips to combat experiencing prolonged stress. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, you can try:

– Splitting up big tasks

– Take time to think positively

– Challenge unhelpful thoughts

– Be more active

– Talk to someone

– Plan ahead
